We install and replace water heaters and hot water cylinders, including adapting the existing pipework and making the hot and cold connections. We also convert from a gas water heater to an electric cylinder when that suits the household better.

There is no single answer, it depends on how the home uses hot water. A gas water heater heats on demand, takes up little space and has no volume limit, but it needs gas and proper ventilation. A cylinder stores water already hot, is convenient for several baths in a row and needs no gas, but it has a limited capacity and takes up room.
In a home with two people and one bath at a time, a water heater is usually enough. In a family with several bathrooms in use at once, a correctly sized cylinder avoids the temperature dropping halfway through a shower. For a couple, between 50 and 80 litres is the usual range. With two bathrooms in use, 100 litres or more is common.
We install water heaters of all the common brands. Adapting the pipework is the part that varies most. New appliances rarely have their connections in the same position as the one being removed, particularly when what is installed is fifteen or twenty years old.
Water that heats and then cools during a shower. A longer and longer wait before it runs hot. A metallic noise on ignition. Corrosion on the base or damp patches underneath. On a cylinder, constant dripping from the safety valve usually means a pressure problem or a tank already compromised.
A planned replacement costs less than an emergency with no hot water in the middle of winter, and it lets you choose the appliance calmly rather than taking whatever is available that day.
The plumbing and the appliance installation are our work. Work on the gas network that requires specific certification is done with a qualified technician, and we tell you clearly when your case falls into that category rather than proceeding around the rule. On a gas installation that is not a formality, it is the safety of the people living there.
We cover five areas across Greater Lisbon and the south bank of the Tagus.

Yes, and it is a frequent request. It means adapting the pipework and allowing for the space and an electrical supply, which we assess on the visit before quoting.
